Volunteer Opportunities 2010

Bright Homes Programme (Elderly)

The Bright Homes Programme aims to meet the needs of lower income seniors living in 1-2 room rented flats in which many of whom are left alone in their rented flats.

The monthly programme is supported by Central Singapore CDC and Hope Centre (S) is working with the grassroots to befriend and organize activities for the elderly.

Programme Volunteer

Description:
The Programme Volunteer supports the Programme Coordinator and/ or staff for the programme. You will befriend the elderly while taking direction from the Programme Coordinator of your role every month.

Requirement:
- Have a strong passion and love for the Elderly
- Able to commit to the Programme for at least 3 consecutive months
- Able to communicate in Mandarin and/ or dialect

Estimated Time Involvement:

Project basis: 2-4 hours fortnightly at duration of project

 

Blood Donation Drive

Everyday, 350 units of blood are needed by patients requiring blood transfusion. Donating blood is an act of great human kindness. A blood donation is a "Gift of Life" that a healthy individual can give to people in the community who are sick or injured.

This coming 19 September, Hope Centre (S) will be partnering with the Singapore Red Cross for a Blood Donation Drive.

Overseas Community Projects

Hope Centre (S) hopes to support challenged communities (especially children) overseas by mobilising volunteers in Singapore. If you and your friends are interested in volunteering in overseas community projects, please contact Christine at office@hopecentre.org.sg

Programme Volunteer

Description:
The Programme Volunteer supports the Programme Coordinator and/ or staff for the programme. You will assist in planning the project and execute the project overseas with a team.

Requirement:
- Have a strong passion and love for children or youth
- Able to commit to the project for estimated 3 months
- Able to assist in planning the project and working with a team of 5-8 volunteers
- Able to adjust and adapt to environments & cultures different from Singapore

Estimated Time Involvement:
Project basis: 1-2 hours weekly for 2 months, in addition to duration of overseas trip
