Project Sparkle

“Project Sparkle” is an initiative of Hope Centre (Singapore) to bless the Kampong Glam Community, Indus Road, Beo Crescent & Chinatown residents by cleaning-up one-room flats OR corridors of rental flats of elderly in the area. This upcoming year in 2017 (6th year running), our reach will extend beyond the vicinity of Kampong Glam to the rest of Singapore. Volunteers from Hope Centre will be coming together to join in this meaningful cause. For the most recent Project Sparkle in 2016, Hope Centre organised a mass cleaning on the 9rd and 10th January, where 2600 volunteers were mobilised to clean 400 apartments in Chinatown, Kampong Glam and Punggol. These studio apartments are located in rental flats, where most elderly residents live alone. The volunteers comprised of members from student, adults and family groups. Residents could also exchange their old brooms, dustpans and mops for a brand new set instead of having their apartment cleaned. The volunteers also interacted with the residents as they worked away – filling the apartment with joy and forging new friendships.
