Elderly Programme:
Some of the projects which were organised:
- "Project Chinatown" was a Chinese New Year house visitation with about 500 volunteers that participated. They brought cheer to the elderly in Chinatown vicinity through house cleaning and New Year goodies.
- Caring for the Aged Day was held at Kreta Ayer Community Centre. It brought smiles to 100 elderly with an afternoon of music and dance entertainment, delicious food and goodie packs.
- Bright Homes Programme:
A programme to meet the needs of lower income seniors living in 1-2 room rented flats in Singapore. We will be working with the grassroots to befriend and organise activities for them. This is a project supported by Central Singapore CDC. We hope to brighten up the lives of the elderly and meet their physical and emotional needs, many of whom are left alone in their rented flats until volunteers visit them.If you would like to be a Befriending Volunteer to serve the elderly in the various activities organised, commitment being one Sat morning/afternoon a month, please drop us a mail at office@hopecentre.org.sg
Children Programme:
- The Little Arts Academy:
We are partnering with The Little Arts Academy (http://www.thelittleartsacademy.com/) for volunteer opportunity to work with children who have passion in Arts.
The Little Arts Academy, which is an initiative of and managed by The Old Parliament House Limited, offers a broad-based curriculum that aims to give children a holistic education which has its foundation in the Arts.
If you have a passion and basic knowledge for the Arts and will like to use them to educate the children through the various activities organised, please drop us a mail at office@hopecentre.org.sg
- Joy Factory Joy Factory is an afternoon of interactive learning session designed for Primary school students from financially-challenged families. Through the session the students learn about team work, strengthen their self-esteem and confidence.
Serve the World Day:
Serve the World Day is an annual event where group of youth volunteers will spend a day to bless and impact the needy and underprivileged in Singapore.
Blood Donation:
Everyday, 350 units of Blood are needed by patients needing blood transfusion. Donating blood is an act of kindness.
Partnering with the Singapore Red Cross, Hope Centre (S) will organise blood donation drive to help Singapore's bloodbank meet the needs of those in crisis.
