Working Professional (Family Ties 2006)

This was my second time volunteered in Family-Ties. Due to a mountain trekking in Malaysia just the day before, I was very exhausted and thought of skipping the event

Nonetheless, my once-tired spirit was lifted by the bright and sincere smiles on the participants’ faces, who were very much grateful for the $20 worth of free groceries. Their gratitude towards the organizers and their enjoyment throughout the event touched my heart tremendously.

I was glad I came, and made myself part of the event. I now truly understand what it means by “It is always more blessed to give than to receive”. I had been blessed a great deal.

Dear Christine

Thank you very much for all the assistance rendered by Hope Centre in making the carnival a great success. We really appreciate all the efforts put in to help raise funds for needy students.

At present, we have 73 students under the school's Financial Assistance Scheme. The majority of them are given the loan of free textbooks and also subsidized for the payment of school fees. The assistance rendered is decided on a case by case basis. Graduating students are granted subsidy for the payment of exam fees.

Catholic High School (Hope Bursary 2009)

The bursary had really helped me a great deal in the financial sense. With the bursary I was able to buy all the books and was able to revise with its help to take on the challenge of the mid-year examinations. With the money, I was able to buy guidebooks and necessary equipments such as curve rulers and calculators which are a great help to me in my studies hence even pushing me further to excel in it.

International

Here at Hope Centre (S), we believe in being able to extend help to both our local society as well as communities in other countries. We encourage our volunteers to empower the less privileged overseas with their expertise. To-date, some of our volunteers have travelled to countries such as Kenya, Vietnam and Brazil to run developmental programmes.
